Silent Assassin

Silent Assassin's official Goon name comes from how he does his Tuesday night workouts... "pretty quiet and intense, he gets into the workout, doesn't say much, then crushes it!" from the words of his trackmate and fellow Goon, Cosmo.

Silent Assassin typifies Goon philosophy... he's not about yuppified or wimpified running... he loves races like Derry 16 miler and Stu's 30 K. He's a sub-3 hour marathoner who works hard and doubtfully ever whines. We'll have to ask Frank Rowe.

About 7 years ago, Silent Assassin did something which made an impression on me that I'll always remember and feel honored by. We were running Cape Cod Marathon and in the late, painful miles near the beach, Silent Assassin offered to run me in to the finish. First, understand that Silent Assassin is elite... my marathon times are slower than his. He said he was just taking it easy and he'd help me, if I wanted. To me, his concern for my race, coupled with the significance of him being a tremendous, fast athlete, and his willingness to sacrifice the last few miles of his marathon and finish time, just to help me, is stuff of "marathon magic."

I want to thank Silent Assassin again today for that and for years of being an example and inspiration. It is with heartfelt honor and priviledge that we have Silent Assassin as a Goon Squad teammate.
