Harvard 10 Miler, Apple Harvest Ramble 10.2.11

Just looking around... pretty wet, huh?
Beautiful and yes, hilly course... excellent, challenging... needed a longish run this weekend.

In 2006 & 2007, Harvard was part of the USATF, New England Grand Prix Series, so I had an idea what to expect.

Previous Harvard 10 milers:
2006   1:15:16     7:32
2007   1:18:30     7:51

I got a laugh when we ran by a familiar stone wall.   In 2007, jumping the wall for a pre-race bathroom, the other side surprisingly dropped off about 6 feet and I could not climb back over!!!   Yelling "HELP!!!!" until teammate, Jim Chopas, heard me and lifted me over on his shoulder.

It was a stellar day, about a 2.5 minute course PR.

Finish time, 1:12:42,   7:17 pace
4th woman & 2nd master woman.

Oh, I hate that. One time, before a big-city 10K, I was darting around looking for a place to do my business and wound up tossing myself over what I thought was just a Jersey barrier but proved to be a safety wall at the top of a 14-story-tall parking garage. You can imagine my surprise when I plunged 150 feet and landed on the hood of a taxi cab, doing serious damage to the vehicle and bruising my knee. Long story short -- I never did get to take that leak and wound up having a bad race. I HATE that crap.
