I brought shorts to run yesterday but in contrast to last week, yesterday was freezing... good thing I had Brooks pants handy from walking over to teach class at the Y. The first part of the run is Elm Street (Manchester) which can be a huge wind tunnel... soon as I hit it, I realized summer is over. I also quickly realized that I probably could have used something warm on my head.
I am trying to think of the positives of training this time of year and came up with this one on Sunday:

'Need hardly any ice for ice bath'
In fact, the ice I added did not even melt completely after 10 minutes in the tub. Doc D advised me that I probably don't need the water to be quite so cold. Photo is Goat and Doc D... hot fun in the summertime at Ollie, 2007.

I think my cheeks are burned there... no silly, not those cheeks!!
I made the mistake of going out in shorts on Monday. I eventually warmed up, but it was a cold, windy first mile. I was all bundled up yesterday though!
You're funny, Steph!
Lori said she saw you at Richmond... is Dave OK?
I ran with Lori today, her asthma acted up Saturday.
I met Lori & Mike to run today and guess what? MIKE WAS WEARING SHORTS!!
Which cheeks are you talking about? The sun was on your back.
Ollie is always a great race and the beers and food are the best.

Hey JJ, no complaining about Ollie!
ha! I will continue to complain about it until I stop setting my all time record slow 5 milers there year after year :)
Who is this Brooks guy and does he know that you have his pants????
:-)
OK double j, now I am getting concerned that you have some guys pants. Plus, Goon Squad does not allow whining. You need to drink more beer after Ollie. It makes things better.

Funny... please, no one tell Brooks I've got his pants... he'd be mad he got stuck "going commando"
After this weekend, I think this should be titled "Fall is Over"...
IT WAS FREEZING SATURDAY!! brutal winds...
